Exedy Stage 1 Clutch Kit with Lightweight Chromoly Solid Flywheel

The Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit was designed with performance and drivability in mind while offering proper clamping force in forced induction applications. We recommend the Exedy stage 1 clutch kit for vehicles ranging from mild upgrades to vehicles equipped with forced induction. Through testing we have found it can handle at least (275 ft lbs of torque at the wheels) consistently. Recommended for turbo, supercharger or nitrous equipped vehicles.

Key benefits compared to the original factory clutch kit are reduced rotational weight in the form of a single mass light weight chromoly flywheel.The single mass flywheel weighing at 12.5lb is the key component to better feel and more performance. Exedy also developed a high performance heavy duty pressure plate and clutch disc to handle the abuse.

Notes:

  • There is a required 500 mile break-in period with the Exedy Stage 1 clutch kit.
  • Pedal pressure increases approximately 75% over the original factory clutch kit.
  • In some cases the clutch may engage in a higher or lower pedal position than stock. It's crucial to clutch life and effective torque holding capabilities that excessive clutch slippage is avoided.

NOTICE:

Fitment and appearance between the Exedy & original OEM Dual Mass Flywheel, pressure plate and disc will differ vastly from each other. They are not the same assembled stack height, weight, etc but engineered from Exedy to be a full 100% replacement setup.

NOTICE: 2.0L engines (require) new shorter flywheel bolts, 2.3L engines can reuse the factory flywheel bolts but new ones are recommended. SKU: 2S7Z6379AA


NOTICE: Clutch slave cylinder throw out bearing must be replaced when installing a new clutch kit. SKU: FSLSC304

Good clutch

Little difficult to install just due to the nature of the the 2.3l. Very responsive clutch that is much stiffer then OEM and seems to work a little better. Mine has a slight rattle to it but I just left breakin so it might be a little better.

A strong purchase

The installation wasn't really detailed since the whole engine had to be redone but the clutch works great. After the break in period the clutch works seamlessly and has a faster engagement than the original OEM clutch. Along with the turbo kit this buy makes a good set.

Be not afraid.

I did quite an it of research before purchasing this product and it seemed like people are afraid to go with a lightweight flywheel/ get rid of the dual mass factory one. After installing this clutch/flywheel, I found that the driveability may have even improved, the rpms come up faster and do not fall noticeably faster. The pedal is a little heavier, but factory was super light. It feels good, right, nice, maybe faster. I needed a clutch anyway so I upgraded and I am not disappointed. I could be mistaken, but the engine vibrations may have even decreased. When I downshift the car doesn't lurch down, the RPMs just match quickly. It's easier to drive, there is no chatter what so ever. It's perfect, I recommend it (senior master ford technician). Get one. 2005 focus st balanceshaft deleted, lowered, fiesta st wheels, cai, now exedy stage 1 clutch and flywheel.
