Bad threads in cooler perhaps??

The I.D. threads in the cooler seem to be tapered? The brass fitting was tough to thread in (I'm positive I didn't double thread). It would only go in about 60%. Oil started to leak so I had to pull the unit out. Scratching head wondering what my next move is........

FSWERKS

Hi Mark, the threads on the cooler and fittings are tapered pipe fitting and they don't need to go all the way in. Most likely you went too far with it and unfortunately that cracks the oil cooler element. It probably has to be replaced. Thank you

Nice Unit and Excellent Customer Service

I recently put this in my 02 SVT. So far it works perfectly and the install is relatively easy (though it's a tight squeeze behind that Zetec engine). Vik provided fast responses to some questions I had about the install. Excellent customer service! The elbows on the stock oil cooler corroded and began leaking. The stock oil cooler is discontinued and difficult/expensive to find one in decent condition, so this upgrade just makes sense.... Especially since I plan on putting in a turbo kit in the future. From what I was told, this unit is intended to be used on top of the stock unit, but that not being possible in my case, I found that the Mocal sandwich adapter fits perfectly in place of the stock unit. Just make sure you remove the o-ring for the stock cooler (mine stuck to the engine) then you will just need to join the two coolant lines that feed into the stock unit and tuck them out of the way. Another consideration with an SVT Focus, you will need to relocate the IMRC unit as the cooling element overlaps the mounting position for the IMRC. I was able to move mine a little higher in the wheel well with minimal work/modification. I have a couple pictures showing the install and IMRC relocation, but can't find a way to attach them to the review.
