The GiroDisc rear rotor system is a direct replacement for the factory discs on the 2016-2018 Ford Focus RS. No modifications are required β these rotors bolt directly to the car and work perfectly with the OEM calipers. By upgrading to lightweight, high-performance replacements instead of a full big brake kit, you maintain the factory brake bias and ABS efficiency while gaining improved durability and cooling.
Each rotor is engineered with a two-piece floating design:
β’ Rotor Hat: CNC-machined from U.S.-sourced 6061-T6 aircraft aluminum for strength and reduced weight.
β’ Rotor Ring: Proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA, with a curved vane internal design that acts like a centrifugal pump to pull cooling air through the disc.
The floating system uses 10 cadmium-plated, high-strength alloy steel drive pins secured with class 12.9 cap screws and anti-noise spring washers. This allows the rotor to expand under heat, self-center between pads, and operate quietly without the rattling common to race-style floating rotors.
When itβs time for service, only the cast iron rotor ring needs replacement β the aluminum hats and hardware can be reused, keeping long-term costs down.
