
Cosworth Crankshafts
This billet crankshaft is the one used in the Formula Atlantic race engines. It is machined in Cosworth's Northampton machineshop in the UK from a heat treated EN40B billet. The journals are precision ground pre and post nitriding on the CNC grinder that is also used for Cosworth's Formula 1 crankshafts. This crankshaft is a direct replacement for the cast iron Ford component. The weight of this crankshaft is 29.25 lbs compaired to the factory 2.3L Focus crankshaft that weighs 38.6 lbs. It has been validated in the Formula Atlantic engine running to 8500 RPMs without a crankshaft damper. The crankshaft has a key way on the nose allowing the timing sprocket and crankshaft pulley to be keyed.
